In this episode, we reviewed Gatchaman Episode 24. Thanks to Grumpy Ghost Owl, and KT for participating in our podcast. 🙂
We referenced a famous Mystery Science Theater riff in reference to a scene where one of the Blackbird Ninja members tried to kill Ken with a forklift. The movie being riffed was called Fugitive Alien. Coincidentally, the lead character was named Ken and there is another character named Joe. If you want more info, check out the IMDB entry for the film.
And speaking of more coincidences, the movie was originally brought to the US by none other than Sandy Frank. Joel and the Bots don’t feel too charitable towards Sandy Frank, as Fugitive Alien was one of many Japanese imported Sandy Frank films they were forced to watch on the Satellite of Love.
PS: Dan and I met Joel Hodgsen twice. The first time was during a screening of Manos: The Hands of Fate at the Reel Dakota film festival back in 2012. We got a free copy of Manos: The Hands of Fate because my husband told Joel during the panel that he (Dan) and I met because of MST3K (which is true. We did.) So thank you Joel, for making us laugh at love…again.
Episode 25 Audience Participation Surveys
The survey is hosted by Google Docs, but you do not need to have a Google account to participate. You do not have to answer all of the questions. Because Episodes 24 and 25 will be released within a week of each other, we posted both surveys. We want to make sure that people who want to participate in Episode 25 have enough time to do so.
The Episode 25 survey will be active until 6:00 AM Central Daylight Time on Saturday, September 29, 2017.
Confused about what time that is where you are? Here is a handy time zone converter to help you figure it out.
We’ve created a countdown timer if this helps, too.
